DAY 01 – AIRPORT / DAMBULLA / SIGIRIYA
Arrival at the Colombo International Airport. Clients will be met by their English speaking Driver/Guide and offer assistance.
In route visit DAMBULLA – the greatest of Sri Lanka’s cave temples, dates from the first century BC and contains over 150 Buddha i mages, subtly lit for maximum atmosphere. Actually a series of five caves, the temple is called Raja Maha Vihara by locals, but known simply as Dambulla to visitors. The entrance is marked by a large white dagoba along a long sloping rock face, from where there are views of the rock fortress of Sigiriya, about 20km away.
DAY 02 – SIGIRIYA / POLONNARUWA / MINNERIYA
The second most ancient of Sri Lanka’s kingdoms, Polonnaruwa was first declared the capital city by King Vijayabahu I, who defeated the Chola invaders in 1070 CE to reunite the country once more under a local leader. While Vijayabahu’s victory and shifting of Kingdoms to the more strategic Polonnaruwa is considered significant, the real Polonnaruwa Hero of the history books is actually his grandson, Parakramabahu I.
DAY 03 – SIGIRIYA / MATALE / PERADENIYA / KANDY
There after visit ROYAL BOTANICAL GARDENS AT PEREDENIYA is situated about 5.5 km to the west from the city of Kandy in the Central Province of Sri Lanka and attracts 2 million visitors annually. It is renowned for its collection of a variety of orchids. It includes more than 4000 species of plants, including of orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palm trees. Attached to it is the National Herbarium of Sri Lanka.
The “Sri Dalada Maligawa” or The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic is a temple in the city of Kandy in Sri Lanka. It was built within the royal palace complex which houses the tooth relic of the Buddha, a tooth, which is venerated by Buddhists. The relic has played an important role in the local politics since ancient times, it’s believed that whoever holds the relic holds the governance of the country, which caused the ancient kings to protect it with great effort.
DAY 04 – KANDY / KNUCKLES
After breakfast KNUCKLES MOUNTAIN trekking through tea plantation, pine forest, a typical Kandyan village and rice fields. This is a circular trek which is approximately about 18 kms. Village culture and bird watching are some of the highlights of this trip. At this end of this trek you will be transferred to Veddha Village to camp overnight which is 3 hours drive. Enjoy the campout with Veddhas with a Bon fire.
DAY 05 – KANDY / UDAWATTA KELE / RAMBODA / NUWARAELIYA
After breakfast UDAWATTA KELE lush tropical rain forest reserve on a hill ridge in the centre of Kandy, has with time become a favourite spot where people come to walk around and experience nature. Also Udawatta Kele іs а famous bird watching site. Аbоut 80 bird species have been recorded from the sanctuary.
There after transfer NUWARAELIYA – is the heart of Sri Lankan hill country. It is the home of the famous Ceylon Tea and the rolling mountains are a carpet of velvety green tea plantations, interspersed with gushing streams and tumbling waterfalls. The salubrious climate, misty glens and the decidedly British character make Nuwara Eliya a must on any Sri Lankan travel itinerary.
In route Visit tea factory/plantation. Here we will give a demonstration of how the Tea leaves are plucked on a daily basis. Also RAMBODA FALLS.
DAY 06 – NUWARAELIYA / HORTON PLAINS / ELLA / TISSAMAHARAMAYA
After breakfast HORTON PLAINS Horton Plains is an undulating 2000m high plateau 28km south of Nuwara Eliya., Also hotain plains home to leopards, sambur, deer, bear, monkeys and a rich array of birds, including some endemic species. The most dramatic feature of the National Park is `World’s End’ where the plateau comes to an abrupt end and drops nearly 1000m vertically.
DAY 07 – TISSAMAHARAMAYA / YALA / SINHARAJA
After breakfast leave for YALA NATIONAL PARK– Sri Lanka’s most known National Park is popular for Elephant, Leopard, Bear, Crocodile and Wild Boar. 97,800 hectares in extent, this is the second largest of Sri Lanka’s National Parks. Its open undulating terrain made it famous for elephants for many years, but recently the park has also received much fame through publicity by National Geographic and the Discovery TV channels, which focused on a leopard research/conservation and identification project.
DAY 08 – SINHARAJA
After breakfast visit SINHARAJA is a lowland tropical rainforest of global importance showing certain affinities with rainforest of south and north-east India, Indonesia and Malaysia. As a result of long isolation in the shelter of the central mountains of Sri Lanka, as well as being separated by ocean from other regional rainforest, Sinharaja displays a high level of endemism in the composition of both its flora and fauna.
DAY 09 – SINHARAJA / AIRPORT
After breakfast Transfer to Airport to Connect the Departure or Beach Extension. Optional excursions and additional services could be provided for which an additional charge will be applicable.
