DAY 01 – AIRPORT / DAMBULLA / SIGIRIYA

Arrival at the Colombo International Airport. Clients will be met by their English speaking Driver/Guide and offer assistance.

Thereafter transfer to SIGIRIYA.

In route visit DAMBULLA – the greatest of Sri Lanka’s cave temples, dates from the first century BC and contains over 150 Buddha i mages, subtly lit for maximum atmosphere. Actually a series of five caves, the temple is called Raja Maha Vihara by locals, but known simply as Dambulla to visitors. The entrance is marked by a large white dagoba along a long sloping rock face, from where there are views of the rock fortress of Sigiriya, about 20km away.

DAY 02 – SIGIRIYA / POLONNARUWA / MINNERIYA

After breakfast Visit POLONNARUWA

The second most ancient of Sri Lanka’s kingdoms, Polonnaruwa was first declared the capital city by King Vijayabahu I, who defeated the Chola invaders in 1070 CE to reunite the country once more under a local leader. While Vijayabahu’s victory and shifting of Kingdoms to the more strategic Polonnaruwa is considered significant, the real Polonnaruwa Hero of the history books is actually his grandson, Parakramabahu I.

DAY 03 – SIGIRIYA / MATALE / KANDY

After breakfast climb SIGIRIYA THE ROCK FORTRESS

Sigiriya, considered by some as the eighth wonder of the world, consists of an ancient castle used by King Kasyapa of the 5th century AD. The Sigiriya site has the remains of an upper Sky Palace sited on the flat top of the rock, a mid-level terrace that includes the Lion Gate and the Mirror Wall and the world famous Sigiriya Frescoes, the lower palace that clings to the slopes below the rock, and the moats, walls and gardens that extend for some hundreds of metres out from the base of the rock.

Temple of the tooth relic followed by cultural

The “Sri Dalada Maligawa” or The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic is a temple in the city of Kandy in Sri Lanka. It was built within the royal palace complex which houses the tooth relic of the Buddha, a tooth, which is venerated by Buddhists. The relic has played an important role in the local politics since ancient times, it’s believed that whoever holds the relic holds the governance of the country, which caused the ancient kings to protect it with great effort.

DAY 04/09 – KANDY / DOWN SOUTH BEACH (MIRISSA/UNAWATUNA/HIKKADUWA)

After breakfast transfer;

In route visit GALLE – said to be the famous Tarshish of the Bible where King Solomon obtained gems and spices, this “Living” UNESCO World Heritage Site is the port where the Portuguese first landed in Sri Lanka in 1505. Captured and fortified by the Dutch who ruled maritime Sri Lanka in the 17th and 18th centuries, the city still retains the air of old Holland.

DAY 10 – DOWN SOUTH / AIRPORT

After breakfast proceed to Airport to Connect the Departure. Optional excursions and additional services could be provided for which an additional charge will be applicable.
